Hear Me God – Psalm 64
Though there are those who pray foolishly, without sincerity and only as a meaningless religious exercise, many come to God in true humility seeking Him and His help. And when we come to God in prayer, we present to Him many and varied requests. It is also true that when we have come to God in humility of heart and faith one request, spoken or unspoken, rises above all others; “Hear my voice, O God, in my prayer.”
As the psalmist says this it is followed with “preserve my life from fear of the enemy.” The enemy of our soul would have us “fear” that God will not or cannot hear us. Satan would have us listen to the many voices, which in their pride, have ridiculed the idea of there being a God who listens to and answers our prayers.
I know there are times when we pray and wait on the Lord and our prayers, as far as we know, have gone unanswered. If they are unanswered, are they not unheard? This, the enemy, would have us believe. But God whose “word” is truth and everlasting has again and again promised to hear the sincere prayers of His people and hearing He will answer.
Psalms 66:19-20 has been a great comfort to all who do believe in God and prayer. “But verily God hath heard me; he hath attended to the voice of my prayer. Blessed be God, which hath not turned away my prayer, nor his mercy from me.”
Pray in faith. God does hear us. God will answer our prayers. And when you pray, ask God to keep you from the “fear” the enemy would have overwhelm your heart and mind causing you to give up on praying. Remember what Jesus said: “Men ought always to pray, and not to faint.” Luke 18:1
