Today From Psalms
Life is so uncertain. We know this, even if we try to dismiss it from our minds. My time on earth is not only limited but uncertain in duration. All I know is that “it is appointed unto men once to die” Hebrews 9:27
The political make up of any nation can change suddenly. There can be peace and prosperity one day and the next day there could be war and poverty.
People can be my friends today and tomorrow my enemy or very distant from me.
Yesterday the sun shone wonderfully bright and today I am going through a storm of unusual magnitude.
Today my feet seem to be on solid ground, tomorrow there may be an earthquake.
How do we maintain balance in the ever-changing world? By trusting in that which never changes, the Word of God and the faithfulness of God.
Psalms 119:89-90 “For ever, O Lord, thy word is settled in heaven. Thy faithfulness is unto all generations.”
As I look out and see the extreme volatility of the world, I would be gripped with fear and anxiety if it were not for the constant faithfulness of God and God’s Word.
How thankful I am for this “anchor to my soul.” The closer I draw to God and the more of God’s Word I know, the less fear and anxiety will take hold of my life.
Psalms 119:92“Unless thy law had been my delights, I should then have perished in mine affliction.”
