Effective

Christ came (Luke 19:10) to seek and save the lost, so as His followers, we should be doing the same. But, as we share the gospel with others, we want to be effective in doing so. The more people that actually get saved, the better. Here are 3 concepts that will help you in being more effective when sharing the gospel.

1. Be a faithful Christian
In referring to being a Christian, I am not talking about those that believe in Christ. There are those that if you asked them about their religion or beliefs, they would say that they are Christians. I am referring to actually being…what a Christian is. A Christian is one who follows Christ; follows His teachings, examples, instructions, commandments and so forth. He is our leader and we are to follow Him. If we are faithful in doing so, I believe we will be more effective in sharing the gospel.

2. Be filled with the Holy Spirit
Acts 1:8  But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judæa, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

Jesus told them that after they received the Holy Ghost, that they would receive power to be witnesses. We need to understand that soul winning is not something we do alone or by our own abilities. We need to trust in the Holy Spirit to work through us and in the heart of the other person.

Whenever possible before sharing the gospel, we should pray that God will use us; that He will fill us with His Spirit; that (through His Spirit) He will give us the words to say. When we are filled with the Holy Spirit of God, when we walk in the Spirit, we are more powerful in sharing the gospel. We will be more effective in doing so.

3. Be a faithful witness
Faithfulness is the key. God expects faithfulness from us. In the parable in Mt. 25:14-30, He expected each servant to use and to be faithful with what they were given. Christ has given us the great commission and expects us to be faithful in performing it. Faithfulness requires diligence and consistency. If we are faithful in sharing the gospel, we will be more effective.

If we are faithful Christians/followers of Christ, if we are filled with the Holy Spirit of God as we share the gospel, if we are faithful witnesses of how Christ died for us, how He forgave us, how He saved us…we will have better results, we will be more effective.
