Walk With Wise Men

Proverbs 13:20 He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.

No matter what our position in life or level of spirituality, this is good advice.

Consider some other scriptures which address the same principle:

Psalms 1:1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.

Proverbs 4:14 Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men.

II Corinthians 6:14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?

What is it to walk with wise men? It is to choose friends of wise, godly character.  The force of example is a good reason for this. Humans are prone to imitate those we closely associate with. To present Christian principles does not always move the affections.  But when they are seen in others there is more motivation to follow them.

Some one coined this phrase: “Show me a man’s company, and I’ll tell you the man. Let me know the company he keeps, and I shall easily guess his moral character.”

The greatest friend we can choose to walk with is Jesus.

I John 1:3 That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.

Lets walk with the King of Kings and with those who do.
